Official benchmark indices, free-float calculation models, and sector-wise basket weights.

Core Benchmark Indices

📐 Official NEPSE Index Calculation Methodology

1. NEPSE Composite Index

Calculated using market-capitalization weighting of all ordinary shares listed on the exchange.

Index = (Current Market Cap / Base Market Cap) × 100

Base Date: February 12, 1994 (2050 Magh 30 B.S.) with base value 100.

2. Float Index

Measures the real market value of shares readily tradeable by the general public, strictly excluding locked promoter shares and government holdings.

Float Cap = Share Price × Total Public Free-Float Shares

Provides institutional traders with the most accurate reflection of supply-demand dynamics.

3. Sensitive & Sensitive Float

Tracks exclusively Class 'A' companies meeting stringent SEBON criteria: paid-up capital ≥ NPR 2 Arba, profitable for consecutive 3 years, and regular annual general meetings.

Filters out illiquid and speculative penny stocks.
